• Description: Bash shell function wt to pop up a list of current repo's worktrees using fzf. Once an item is selected by pressing Enter, the cd command changes directory to where the worktree is located.
  • Features:
    • Allows cyclic scroll between items in the list
    • Wraps long lines at the width of the terminal window
    • Lists items in natural order (reverse order in terms of fzf)
    • Space button toggles header row
    • Takes up to 80% of the current terminal window's height (allows to preserve 20% of previous terminal's output for visibility)
    • Shows "preview" section at the bottom of the terminal window with the name of the branch of the currently selected item in list
    • Executes cd if the current path differs from the worktree path (i.e. doesn't cd to the current worktree (the one marked with the asterisk char))
      • Does not execute cd on cancel (on ctrl-c)

Slightly updated version which:

• Makes use of new --json arg
• Adds no header
• Re-orders fields in list to "branch, commit, path"
• Preserves the * char in the preview section (identifies current worktree)
• Errors out if run outside the git repo or if run inside git dir (.git/)
• Preserves cwd when switching worktrees (if cwd dir doesn't exist in target worktree, then chdirs to repo root)
• Prints cwd in preview window label
• Uses colors for preview window and label

• Description: Wraps git wt so that invoking it with no arguments launches fzf for interactive worktree selection, while all other git commands pass through unchanged. This is just what I have in my fish config right now and I love it, thought I'd share.

• Description: I use tmux for concurrent development across multiple repositories with Claude Code. For this reason, I create two separate windows—one for shell operations and another for Claude Code—per worktree.

@k1LoW I would like to do this part of git wt, with a subcommand like git wt --cleanup. Would that be ok for you? (I prefer asking before coding 😇).

• Requirement: git >= 2.48.0
• Description: It prevents the bidirectional link between the Git repository and the worktree from breaking during directory moves where their relative positions remain unchanged (e.g., moving the main tree when worktrees are located within it).
• Snippet: git config --global worktree.useRelativePaths true
  • to convert existing worktrees, run git worktree repair inside them.
