Examples of behavior that supports a healthy community include:
- showing empathy, patience, and respect;
- giving and accepting constructive, specific feedback;
- focusing criticism on ideas and code rather than people;
- acknowledging mistakes, correcting them, and learning from them;
- respecting privacy, confidentiality, and responsible disclosure;
- helping make discussions accessible to people with different levels of experience.
Unacceptable behavior includes:
- harassment, threats, discrimination, or deliberate intimidation;
- sexualized language, imagery, or unwanted attention;
- insults, personal attacks, trolling, or sustained disruption;
- publishing private information without explicit permission;
- pressuring others to disclose personal, employer, or security-sensitive information;
- retaliation against someone who reports a concern in good faith;
- conduct that would reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.
This code applies in repository issues, pull requests, reviews, discussions, security reports, and other project spaces. It also applies when someone officially represents the project in public.
Report conduct concerns privately through a repository maintainer. If a concern also involves a vulnerability or sensitive technical information, use the private process in SECURITY.md. Do not publish private evidence in a public issue.
Maintainers will protect the privacy and safety of reporters as far as reasonably possible. Anyone handling a report must disclose conflicts of interest and step aside when necessary.
Maintainers may apply measures proportionate to the behavior and its impact:
- Correction — a private explanation and request to change behavior.
- Warning — a formal warning with consequences for continued behavior.
- Temporary restriction — a time-limited restriction on project participation.
- Permanent restriction — removal from project spaces for severe or repeated violations.
Decisions should be documented privately, applied consistently, and communicated to affected people without exposing confidential details.
