Thanks, and nice find. I verified the fix against Bitwarden's I will push a few follow-ups onto this branch: a named constant and helper for the marker, a CHANGELOG entry, and a shorter comment. Repairing passkeys that earlier versions already migrated needs the sync signature to cover |

Cover passkeys in the KP2BW_SYNC content signature and accept 3.8.1 stamps until their next safe write. Name the b64. marker and its helper.

Diff against the effective update payload and restamp it, so a Bitwarden-only passkey no longer causes a PUT or a false protect on every run. Match kept credential IDs raw or marked, leave Bitwarden's own UUID IDs alone, mark kept 3.8.1 output, and make --migrate-uris skip 3.8.1 stamps that sit over passkeys.

OutcomeNo unresolved review items remain. Every follow-up requested in the PR discussion was folded into the merged diff before merge. Item-by-item status
ConclusionNo new GitHub issue is needed — the one open follow-up referenced in the discussion (sync-signature repair for previously-migrated passkeys) was implemented and tested within this same PR rather than deferred to |

Released in kp2bw 3.8.2, on PyPI at https://pypi.org/project/kp2bw/3.8.2/. A re-run with 3.8.2 rewrites credential IDs that an earlier version migrated without the marker, so vaults imported before this fix do not need a delete and re-import. Thanks again for tracking this down. |
Summary
b64.marker.Problem
KeePassXC stores
KPEX_PASSKEY_CREDENTIAL_IDas unpadded base64url. Bitwarden's internal credential parser accepts either a UUID or a base64url value prefixed withb64..Without the marker, Bitwarden attempts to parse the imported value as a UUID. Parsing returns
undefined, and authentication subsequently fails while comparing credential IDs:The browser then exposes this as a generic WebAuthn
NotAllowedError.Fix
Store KeePassXC credential IDs as
b64.<credential-id>. Avoid adding the marker twice if the source already contains it.Verification
Confirmed against an affected Bitwarden/Vaultwarden credential: adding the marker in place restores passkey authentication.
