Description

  • What changed: Stop building/publishing the ghcr.io/kptdev/kpt container image.
    • release/tag/goreleaser.yaml: removed the dockers_v2 block.
    • release/images/Dockerfile: deleted (used only by that block).
    • .github/workflows/release-snapshot.yml: dropped the dead release/images/** path filter.
    • documentation/content/en/installation/kpt-cli.md: replaced the Docker install steps with a deprecation note.
    • Makefile: removed the unused (already broken) docker target.
  • Why it’s needed: kpt shipped a container image but porchctl does not. Per the Inconsistent CLI images: kpt ships a container image but porchctl doesn't #4773 decision (Option A), drop the kpt image and standardize both CLIs on binaries/archives/packages.
  • How it works: GoReleaser now builds binaries, archives, and packages only. Existing tags up to v1.0.1 remain available but get no further updates.
