Connecting awtSCADA to IEC 61850 Equipment

awtSCADA includes a full IEC 61850 communication stack:

• MMS (Manufacturing Message Specification) — read/write data objects, control commands
• GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Event) — fast multicast events
• SV (Sampled Values) — real-time measurement streams

Setup Steps

1. Start the Python Gateway: python3 scada_gateway.py
2. Configure IED connection in the gateway config
3. Open awtSCADA HTML in your browser
4. Add IEC 61850 tags to your project
5. Map tags to graphic elements

Supported IEDs

• ABB REL670, REF615
• Siemens SIPROTEC 5
• GE Multilin
• SEL-400 series
• Any IED supporting IEC 61850 Ed.1 or Ed.2

Python Gateway Architecture

Browser (WebSocket) <-> Python Gateway <-> libiec61850 <-> Physical IED

The gateway handles:

• MMS client connections
• GOOSE subscriber
• SV subscriber
• Data model parsing (SCL/ICD files)
