Even looking at the standard Spotify HA Integration - there are no settings for audio quality. Very interested how HA will work, as normally set via the client device (e.g. phone) when using speakers via spotify connect. Does HA act as the client?

Do you mean you need somehow access to Spotify with lossless capability?

I got my access today without them informing me about it (they did a few hours later). Maybe there's more countries than Sweden getting it too today.

Agree, but he other issue is getting long and the pertinent info gets lost/hidden. Here is a summary.

The current consensus is that there's no workable way to implement this feature. It works differently from the existing streaming and has additional DRM protections. It would be a nice extra feature to have, but it's looking unlikely and there is no ETA.

Little bit of reverse engineering I've done if it helps:
The typical metadata endpoint we're using doesn't provide FLAC audio, so we'll need to get it directly from extended-metadata. You need to take the original_audio.uuid field, convert it to a "spotify:audio:..." id and send it with the AUDIO_FILES entity request.
