[Bug]: Issue regarding crashes on AMD GPUs

• Verified that I am using the latest version (Wallpaper settings > top right corner for version 1.0.0 and later), should be the same as https://github.com/luisbocanegra/plasma-smart-video-wallpaper-reborn/releases/latest

Install method used:

• Using Plasma's "Add new widget" (KDE Store)
• AUR
• Manually from the latest source code

Describe the bug
I see that the QT-Multimedia bug is not fixed yet, I've read the issue linked in the README file. I currently have an AMD GPU RX 7600, I can help you to test and fix this issue providing logs and any other stuff you or QT devs need for debugging. Because I really like this addon, and it's quite annoying seeing these crashes sometimes when I leave my PC idle with the sleep inhibitor enabled in the energy management.

Steps to reproduce

1. Do a cold boot
2. Enable the sleep inhibitor in energy management
3. Leave your PC idle for about 15 mins
4. You will see a plasmashell segmentation fault or an entire crash of the desktop environment
5. On the current plasma 6.5.5 it can recover from the crash automatically (openSUSE Tumbleweed)

Observed Result
Using the workaround described in the README fixes this with gstreamer

Expected Result
Try to fix the bug for QT-Multimedia when using the default ffmpeg backend

I tried the code you provided but I cannot reproduce the crash.

So I sticked only with the addon. My theory is that it's a memory leak issue, I used a 1080p video with a duration of almost 56 seconds, as you can see in the first screenshot, the usage of the GPU vram is more than 4GiB after idling 12mins aprox with only these apps opened and the wallpaper playing in the background.

After you hit the usage between 4.50 GiB - 5 GiB plasmashell will crash, and the vram usage drops to normal until you let the wallpaper play for about another 15 mins.

The video I used for testing:

The testing used ffmpeg as QT media backend, with the QML code I don't have such memory leak.

It could be a good idea if you add a setting to switch between Qt multimedia and gstreamer backends in the ui instead of adding an env variable in a file.

Pull that branch then run kpackagetool6 -t Plasma/Wallpaper -u package && systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell.service inside the project directory

I have tested this branch and it works well, but there are still memory leaks even with gstreamer as the backend. I logged back into the system and left it idle for about an hour. It takes a little longer to fill up the GPU's video memory. If you minimize any of the windows, the vram usage clears and returns to normal usage, and then it starts filling up again.

So I think there is another issue in the addon's code that triggers these memory leaks.

Maybe, but if the issue doesn't happen with the qml file this is probably caused by the GPU driver or the interaction of it with Plasma.

I also noticed that setting the environment variables the way #231 does also affects other programs, for that reason I don't think is a good idea to merge it.
