Joomla 6 compatibiliy plus overridable plugin

Hi Marco,
I had to make numerous changes to allow JTRACK to run in J5 with the compatibility plugin disabled as a precursor to upgrading to J6. It is running well on our J6 test site https://dev.diamondvalleybwc.org.au. One issue for us is that the jtrackgallery_maps plugin cannot be overriden because it does not have a tmpl folder with default.php layout. We would like to be able to override to include the navigate to start button in a different place. When you are making changes for J6 could you please see if it is possible to make jtrackgallery_maps overridable?

Thanks for the update. I have been also made some progress on replacing some of the deprecated code (see 2fa3ffc), but it is not complete yet. Would it be possible for you to share the version of the code that works on Joomla 6, so that I can take over some of the changes? Did you restructure the code following the Joomla 4+ directory and file structure (with a 'src' directory) or did you keep the old/existing directory and file structure for the code?

For the plugin, I am not sure how to make it overridable. To my understanding, the rendering of a plugin needs to be done in code, since it is added via a search-and-replace operation. That said, if you could explain where you would like the button to be placed, I can adapt the code to make that the default/standard. I already have a test version with a slightly different placement of the button, which you can see here: https://jtrackgalleryj4.gta-trek.eu/index.php/en/plugin

Hi Marco, I unzipped the version with the new button and also unzipped jtg.zip . I went through all the php files, looking for things like juri , jhtml, and modified them. I then turned off the compatibility plugin of and tried all the JTRACK functions we had used (front and back end) correcting errors until it ran OK. I then was able to update to J6. I also did the same with the plugin jtrackgallery_maps and added code near the end of jtrackgallery_maps.php for the navigate button. I have attached a version of your installer that has the changes I have made. If you unzip it, you can see the changes made to php files. If you use it to update a J5 version, you should be able to run without the compatibilty plugin. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Joomla to answer you plugin override question.
