UI and control improvement suggestions

i understand the empty spaces to make the design seem more modern but imo they should be changeable to occupy as much space as available

as for the topics row, the icons aren't clickable to filter such topics hence serves no particular purpose and should be toggle able and by default not shown when no topic is chosen to begin with

the ad is fine as well but its placement on the very first source is annoying, its placement should be changeable to any one of the visible sources

the hackertab.dev logo and the search bar also take up space which we can instead put the ad to alleviate the annoyance

maybe make the search engine icon in the search bar clickable to change the search engine, that would be very cool

horizontal scroll would be really appreciated either by scrolling on the sideway button or a scroll bar at the bottom

themes would also be very cool

I agree, We need to find a better way to display the topics, if done correctly we could save a huge space between the header and the body

i'm not really a design or anything but from a user prespective, i think there should be several options available in the settings to tweak the UI, for example imo

• the search feature is not really that useful (for me, as there is already the address bar which i can access ctrl+L) unless you implement the ability to change search engine with a click, so an option in setting to turn it off.
• maybe an icon to search in the engine instead of , which we can right click and open the search in a private tab or container
• to maximize the space for sources, we should hide all other element and make them available with a hover on the top row, which shows an arrow, which upon clicking shows them like when we go fullscreen in a browser, or add a shortcut for it? would be nice
• horizontal scroll as i mentioned earlier
• filter by topics if any are chosen in settings
• a basic theming functionality would be to allow changing background color, font color and the accent color of each source, in case the preferred background colors not as visible and colored source tabs
• and that share button doesn't seem to work
