[Problem]: SETUP doesn't specify a control_port

What happened?

using itunes4.6 on powerbookg3(pismo) with macosx 10.3.9, connecting to shairport-sync (classic airport protocoll 1) shairport errors with :SETUP doesn't specify a control_port

and connection fails

what is causing this and how to circumvent?

Thanks for the report.

Unfortunately, the simple fact is that your version of iTunes is too old. There was a very big change in AirPlay around 2010 and Shairport Sync only works on AirPlay from that time forward.

Perhaps other users might have suggestions for older AirTunes players. You could try the original version of Shairport, but it's no longer maintained, and I'd say it could be difficult to build on more recent Linuxes.
