ssa-my-social-security-browser-automation is a tool that helps you do certain tasks on the Social Security Administration (SSA) website automatically. You can use it to get benefit verification letters, check your earnings record, download SSA-1099 tax forms, review benefit estimates, and manage your account.
This app works on Windows and runs in your web browser without needing special technical skills. It automates repetitive steps, so you do not have to click through the site manually every time.

Before you start, make sure you have:
- A Windows PC with Windows 10 or later.
- Internet connection.
- A web browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox.
- Your my Social Security login credentials (username and password).
- Some free space on your computer (a few hundred megabytes).
- Basic familiarity with downloading and running files in Windows.
The app uses Node.js under the hood but you do NOT need to install Node.js yourself. It runs as a ready-to-use application.
Click the big button below to go to the download page on GitHub. This page hosts the latest version of the app and all files you need.
On the GitHub page:
- Look for the Releases section or the latest downloadable files.
- Download the Windows installer file if available (usually an
.exe). - If an installer is not present, download the
.ziparchive containing the app.
- If you downloaded an
.exefile, double-click it to start the installation. - Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
- If you downloaded a
.zipfile:- Right-click the file and select Extract All.
- Choose a folder where you want to keep the app.
- Open that folder after extraction.
- Find the app shortcut on your desktop or in the folder where you installed or extracted it.
- Double-click the icon to start.
- The app window will open and ready for input.

Log in
Enter your my Social Security username and password on the login screen. -
Select Task
Choose which task you want to automate, for example:- Download benefit verification letter
- View earnings record
- Get SSA-1099 tax form
- Check benefit estimates
- Manage account info

Start Automation
Click the Start button. The app will open a browser window and log into SSA for you. -
Save Files
When documents or reports download, select where to save them on your computer. The app will notify you when the task finishes. -
Close the App
After your work is done, close the app window.
- You can choose where saved files go by updating the Save Folder in the settings.
- Enable or disable notifications for completed tasks.
- Check for program updates from the app menu.
- Adjust how fast the browser automation runs in case of connection delays.
- If the app cannot log in, double-check your my Social Security credentials.
- Make sure your internet connection is stable.
- If a task stops unexpectedly, close the app, restart Windows, and try again.
- Keep your Windows and browser software updated.
- Check the GitHub page for known issues or updates.
- If the app seems stuck, you can close the open browser window and restart the task.
- Windows 10 or later (64-bit recommended).
- Minimum 4 GB RAM, 8 GB or more recommended.
- At least 300 MB free disk space.
- Internet access for logging into SSA.
- Standard modern web browser installed.

This project uses Node.js and browser automation tools like Playwright and Puppeteer to control the browser and handle SSA portal tasks. It connects securely to login.gov to authenticate users before accessing SSA services.
Your login details never leave your computer. The app does not store your credentials unencrypted. It uses secure web protocols to interact with the SSA portal. You remain in control of your information at all times.
