While the introduction of generative AI into society has been controversial and raised broad concerns across many communities, those responses have varied among communities. For example, the responses to generative AI have varied across different artistic, gaming, modding, open source, software development and linguistic communities. In English-speaking artistic communities, AI use is considered extremely controversial and banned on many forums. By contrast, in many software development communities (especially in professional and commercial circles), AI has been largely embraced and integrated into standard workflows -- albeit sometimes begrudgingly. Open source software communities have often had responses somewhere between these two dipoles.

While reviewing the policies of Modrinth I have a few questions:

  • AI-generated images are banned. But it is not clearly defined what an AI-generated image is. Is this solely the output of a text-to-image model? Or would CGI images created with tools that use AI-gen code be included? What about assets created using procedural generation algorithms that include AI-generated code?
  • Does the use of software and tools that use AI-gen code require disclosure? Does this apply to operating systems? Minecraft itself? Third-party tools? IDEs?

Probably not since it is not code in the mod it's used to develop it.

Probably based off the amount. Not code tho. I think mostly output but someone else pls reply here.
