Here's a notebook for network analysis for World Trade.

It uses data from the BACI-CEPII dataset and focuses on the following -

  • Why network analysis for world trade
  • Geographic v/s topological view
  • Centrality measures
  • Community detection

According to the docs, basemap is intended to be replaced by cartopy... Should we try to use cartopy instead? FWIW I tried installing basemap on an M1 linux machine and was not able to do so as there are no m1 wheels.

This has been stale for quite some time - as part of a general cleanup, I'm going to go ahead and close the proposals that were opened as part of GSoC/outreachy applications. That's not to say these aren't valuable proposals - if you'd like to continue the work, start by resolving merge conflicts and feel free to re-open!

Hi @rossbar, sorry I let this stall the first time around. Life got in the way and I wasn’t able to follow through when I should have.

I’ve now updated the branch and resolved the conflicts against main, and switched from basemap to cartopy. I’d love to get this over the line! Could you open this PR for another look? I can't seem to find the option for that, I think it's restricted to maintainers
