🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Measure serialized objects in bytes.
JSON.stringify(value)?.length counts UTF-16 code units, not bytes. For example, a raw object containing three million emoji characters measures about 6 million code units but occupies about 12 million UTF-8 bytes. The driver can retain that entry despite the configured 8 MiB maxEntrySize. Measure the serialized string with Buffer.byteLength or an equivalent byte-counting API, and add a multibyte raw-value test. (isaacs.github.io)

this is a backport of the existing driver on main

@danielroe Thanks for clarifying. The byte-counting concern is inherited from main, not a new regression. It can be handled separately without expanding this backport.
Would you like me to open a follow-up issue for main?

Learning: In nuxt/scripts PR #964, the v1 LRU cache driver in packages/script/src/runtime/server/utils/lru-cache-driver.ts is a backport of the existing driver on main. Distinguish inherited behavior from regressions introduced by this backport.

📚 Description
spotted some issues when adding a Nuxt 5 nightly playground next to a Nuxt 4 one in a pnpm workspace, with scripts v1 installed by another module.
some of those should be resolved by nuxt/nuxt#36587, but this PR in general tries to avoid implicit deps, e.g.
nuxt,@nuxt/kit,lru-cache. the root@unhead/vuedev dependency and the CI change keep this repo's own workspace on a singlenuxtnow that it's a peer.the
lru-cachechange is for Nuxt 5: unstorage 2 doesn't shiplru-cache, so the built-in driver only worked if something else hoisted it, and failed with pnpm's global virtual store... this backports the driver frommain.of course, this is just a v1 patch; these issues are already resolved on
mainwith v2.happy if you don't want to merge but just wait for the v2 release 🙏
