Queue-flake anchor: test/overdue-escalation-days-overdue.test.ts #31311

Closed

Description

@github-actions

test/overdue-escalation-days-overdue.test.ts has ejected 3 pull requests from the merge
queue within a rolling 24 hours — 2 independent hits once
GitHub's speculative stacking is accounted for. This issue is the single place for
that conversation; it is refreshed by the merge-queue-triage workflow on every
further ejection.

PR stack queue build
#31220 S1 · root 42429362317
#31256 independent 42428161519
#31287 S1 · inherited 42429367955

⚠️ Queue depth is not evidence. The stack column is read out of the queue
branch names: GitHub builds each queued PR on top of the previous entry, so a
build whose BASE chain reaches another victim's queue HEAD (directly, or through
green groups queued between them) contains that victim's tree by construction.
A single deterministic break therefore ejects every PR
behind it, and the raw victim count climbs with QUEUE DEPTH until the owner
lands a fix. Start with the roots above; an inherited row is a bystander until shown otherwise.

This issue is a NAME, not a diagnosis. The workflow that files it reads the
failing test file path out of the job logs and counts PRs; it does not
know whether this is a flake, a load/timing cliff, a semantic conflict between
queued PRs, or a real regression, and it does not act on any of those. No test is
skipped, quarantined or re-queued by it, and no PR is labelled by it — weakening
a gate stays a human act.

What to do with it: read one victim PR's triage comment for the failure REASON
line beside the FAIL line (a timeout and an assertion are the same FAIL line and
opposite diagnoses), decide the cause, and close this issue with the fix or with
the reason it is not one.

A later queue build that went green on the same main is a control only if its
affected-only selection ran the failing package; a green group that never selected
it carried the same tree without testing it.

Last refreshed by queue build 42429367955 (PR #31287).

Filed by the merge-queue-triage workflow (#4859, aggregation #10128).

    Server seat 2 does not claim this anchor; triage, please route it · 2026-11-08T00:57Z

    Under 田騏's clock-out order (2026-11-07 23:57Z), server seat 2 opens no new card. The likely fix shape is the one PR #31312 (Fixes #31298, now in the merge queue) applies to the sibling loop-body-iteration.test.ts:

    • boot the kernel once in beforeAll, under a measured budget;
    • in beforeEach, reset todo_task rows through the driver and clear captured notices;
    • remove any fixture flow in finally;
    • change no assertion.

    #31312's dev measured this file at ≤ 2060 ms in CI before tonight's 5000 ms timeout (job 128575054246, line 129).

    Claim: PM loop round 1 · #31311 (queue-flake anchor: examples/app-todo/test/overdue-escalation-days-overdue.test.ts times out at the 5 s default) · 2026-11-08T01:05Z · test-only, after #31312 lands

    Branch: claude/project-thread-33z78v (the #31298 card thread's harness-pinned branch; the follow-up PR is cut from it after merging main once #31312 has landed)
    Worktree: objectstack-issue-31311
    Domain: domain:server
    Seat: domain:server#2
    File surface: examples/app-todo/test/overdue-escalation-days-overdue.test.ts only. ⛔ Product code, packages/**, examples/app-todo/src/**, vitest.config.ts, skills/**, docs/adr/**, .claude/**. No assertion is skipped, quarantined or loosened.
    Container & model: M, mode:thread, model: TIER_DEFAULT, effort: default
    Clause-②: no — test-only; no accept set, schema or export changes
    Metadata-protocol: none
    Responsibility: the merge queue's Test Core legs stay green for PRs that do not touch the todo example | examples/app-todo test suite | CI Test Core shards and the merge queue
    Thread-read: 6715322468
    Premise: holds. On main 57675a21, the async cases of this file each call bootTodoData() (:98) inside the case under vitest's 5 s default. Queue run 42429362317, job 128575054246 timed out :129 at 5000 ms beside loop-body-iteration.test.ts, which ejected #31220. Triage counts 2 independent hits (this anchor). #31312 (Fixes #31298) fixes only the sibling file.
    Exception: 田騏 approved this claim under the clock-out order (「同意」, 2026-11-08 01:04Z, relayed by the coordinator); it is the seat's last claim.

    Order: project file server-seat-2/orders/31311.md.

    Landed — anchor fixed · 2026-11-08T02:26Z

    PR #31321 merged 2026-11-08T02:25Z through the merge queue as b85190a843, and this anchor closed with it. overdue-escalation-days-overdue.test.ts now boots one kernel per file in beforeAll under a measured 30 s budget and resets todo_task rows in beforeEach. No assertion changed. Its two async cases run in 32–45 ms and 8–10 ms locally (32–36 ms and 10–11 ms under load), against a 5016 ms cut-off on the shard.

    Together with #31312 (anchor #31294's file), the two examples/app-todo files tonight's queue reds named are fixed. Anchor #31294 is still open for triage to close.
