Calendar Importer: New plugin to bring external calendar events into Tasks-compatible notes #3931
|
Hi everyone, We've built a small companion plugin called Calendar Importer for people who plan their days in Obsidian but still receive calendar events from Google Calendar, Outlook, iCloud, Zoho, school or work calendars, family calendars, and other iCal/ICS sources. It quietly imports calendar events into a dedicated Obsidian note as Tasks-compatible markdown:
That means Tasks queries can bring those events into daily notes, dashboards, or planning views without retyping everything. The basic idea is simple: keep adding events wherever your calendar lives, and let Obsidian quietly bring them into the place where you actually plan your day. Especially handy when you share a calendar with people who do not use Obsidian yet. It currently supports:
It is deliberately an import-only workflow. It does not write back to calendars or require account sign-in. The calendar remains the source of truth, while Obsidian becomes the place to organise the day. I’d be interested in feedback from Tasks users:
Thanks to the Tasks maintainers and contributors for building such a useful foundation. Cheers, |

Hi, I'm moving this to Q&A, as it is not about developing the Tasks plugin. |

Cheers Clare,
I appreciate the feedback and agree with the Q&A reassignment.
Thanks,
Brendon

I don't know how to answer that - I expect it will very much depend on each user's workflow.
Tasks is very prescriptive about the order of fields:
Are there formatting conventions I should support?
What do I need to know about the order of items in a task?.
It's not something that I would personally use, maybe ask on Obsidian Discord. You can announce your plugin in the #updates channel and start a thread for people to reply in, and for you to ask questions in.
