OverflightOracle runs on a microservices architecture — permit ingestion, status polling, alert dispatch, and the ICAO sync layer are all independently deployable and scaled separately based on load. The permit state machine is backed by MongoDB, which handles the complex nested approval-chain documents far better than anything relational would. Diplomatic blackout periods and CAA response-time windows are cached aggressively in Redis for long-term pattern storage and fast historical lookups. The whole system is containerized, runs on Kubernetes, and has not gone down once in production.
