490-514: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winReset global index state in a
finallyblock orafterEachhook. These tests change process-wide state.
setIndexPersistence(persistence)is never reset.setVectorIndex(null)is skipped if an assertion fails. ThegetSearchIndex()singleton also keepsmem_expiredafter the dry-run test, because that test asserts the entry stays in the index. A failed assertion can therefore leak state into later tests in the same file.Add an
afterEachhook that callssetIndexPersistence(null)andsetVectorIndex(null). Also remove the test IDs from the search index in the hook.♻️ Proposed fix

Review comment at @test/evict.test.ts around lines 490 - 514: Add an afterEach cleanup for the search-index cleanup tests that resets index persistence and the vector index, and removes the test IDs mem_expired and mem_stale from getSearchIndex(). Remove the inline setVectorIndex(null) calls so cleanup runs even when assertions fail, importing afterEach if needed.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winFlush the index snapshot in the
finallyblock.If
decrementImageReforrecordAuditthrows after index removal, control skips the post-loopflushIndexSave(). Pending-log replay only helps when the asynchronous pending-log write succeeds, and graceful shutdown does not cover an ungraceful process exit. Summary
mem::evict deletes expired and old non-latest memories from KV but skips
the BM25 and vector indexes, so evicted ids keep taking result slots in
memory_recall/smart_search (the same symptom #632 reported: limit 1
returns empty until limit 2). BM25 rebuilds on restart, but the vector
index is restored without reconciling against KV, so dead ids never
clear.
Adds the index removals and indexCleaned to both memory delete branches.
Every other delete path already does this (#636); evict was missed.
The paths that set isLatest=false without index removal (consolidate,
auto-forget contradiction, heal) leave live records indexed rather than
dead ones, so I left them for a separate change.
