A position, feasibility, and reference-architecture study of platform
self-evolution: a software platform that converts requirements — inferred
from its own defects and misfunction, or supplied externally as EARS-structured
or free natural-language text — into verified, deployed changes to itself,
including the environment in which it is authored. The work argues this
capability is enabled by a Level-5 platform-engineering AI (per the LLMGen
benchmark hierarchy), proposes a Levels of Self-Evolution (L0-L5) ontology,
and specifies the governed Self-Evolution Loop (SEL) as an SDLC-native
generalization of the MAPE-K control loop, with a falsifiable evaluation.
