Environment variables

This repository should run its provider-free checks without private secrets. The variables below are optional operational knobs used by production builds or local publishing runs.

Do not commit real tokens, API keys, cookies, private feed URLs, local queue data, or generated runtime artifacts. Keep local overrides in .env or your shell environment.

Astro/site variables

Orbit variables

ORBIT_ISSUER, ORBIT_CLIENT_ID and ORBIT_CLIENT_SECRET are Worker secrets (wrangler secret put …). ORBIT_AUDIENCE is not a secret and lives in wrangler.ssr.jsonc under vars: it is the client id Orbit knows this site by, and keeping it in version control makes a misconfiguration visible without opening a dashboard.

ORBIT_ISSUER and ORBIT_AUDIENCE gate two things together — Orbit sign-in tokens on /api/publish, and agent action documents on /api/orbit-eylem. If either is missing, both refuse with 503 rather than falling through to another path.

Local-only files

Ignored local/runtime paths include:

  • .env and .env.production;
  • newsroom/.venv/;
  • newsroom/data/;
  • src/content/equinoxHaber/_drafts/.

If a new provider or deployment integration needs more variables, document the variable name and safe purpose here, not the secret value.
