Importing previous metadata not working as intended

Reporting that importing previous metadata files in data explorer via the "import metadata" function does not import groups and variable level metadata. Importing weights does not seem to be an issue for this.

I downloaded the XML file for the Employment Insurance Coverage Survey, 2023, and attempted to import it into the Employment Insurance Coverage Survey, 2020-Draft version. However, the update was not successful. Only some of the weight variables were updated automatically. I then tried to manually update the remaining variables' weights, and the changes appeared to apply, but when I clicked 'Save to Dataverse,' an error message appeared stating 'Dataset upload failed.' Additionally, no groups were created, even though most of the variable names are the same.

Description
We are encountering a technical issue when attempting to save variable weights in the Data Explorer for certain PUMF datasets. The issue appears consistently with EICS PUMFs, and we are now seeing the same behaviour with the latest English Survey of Household Spending (SHS) dataset.
The weighting variable itself can be selected without issue, but once variables are assigned to use that weight, the dataset can no longer be saved.

To replicate the issue:
For the affected datasets, after loading, our Markit student goes to the Data Explorer (associated with the TAB file), specifies the weighting variable. This is all fine. But once he starts setting variables to point to the weighting variable, the dataset will not allow him to save. Please see the screenshot for one example.

Expected Behaviour
The dataset should save successfully after variables are assigned to the weighting variable.

Actual Behaviour
The dataset fails to save once variables are mapped to the weighting variable.
