Expose pointer tracking and filter recorded handlers packages/react-native-gesture-handler/android/src/main/java/com/swmansion/gesturehandler/core/GestureHandler.kt, packages/react-native-gesture-handler/android/src/main/java/com/swmansion/gesturehandler/core/GestureHandlerOrchestrator.kt |
GestureHandler.isTrackingPointer is now public. recordHandlerIfNotPresent accepts an optional pointer ID. When the ID is nonnegative, the pre-begin check uses only recorded handlers tracking that pointer; otherwise, it uses an empty list. Ancestor, view, and compound-view extraction pass the current pointer ID. |

Native button activation can ignore an incompatible active handler; restore pointerless arbitration before merging.

Explanation
The whole-PR diff addresses [
#4627].recordHandlerIfNotPresentnow filters recorded handlers by the extracted pointer ID before callingshouldBeginWithRecordedHandlers. The ancestor, view, and compound-view extraction paths pass that pointer ID. Calls without a pointer use an empty list. This prevents handlers from another pointer from cancelling the second-finger button before it begins. The change remains Android-specific and matches the issue scope.

Explanation
The PR changes only Android gesture-handler code in
GestureHandler.ktandGestureHandlerOrchestrator.kt. The visibility change forisTrackingPointersupports the pointer-specific filter. The orchestrator changes implement the [#4627] behavior and preserve no-pointer call behavior through the default value. No unrelated change is shown in the whole-PR diff.

recordHandlerIfNotPresent to keep filtering gestureHandlers by pointerId when it
is nonnegative, but use the full gestureHandlers list when pointerId is
negative. Preserve the existing shouldBeginWithRecordedHandlers arbitration so
pointerless native activation still respects incompatible recorded handlers.

It may make sense to move this check into shouldBeginWithRecordedHandlers so each handler can decide on its own whether to filter or not - buttons may want to do it differently depending on exclusive, but I didn't think that much about it, so it may be a bad idea. WDYT?

To be honest I don't have a strong opinion.
I have a feeling that orchestrator is a better place for deciding which handlers should be checked by given handler, also recorded was documented as "handlers already recorded for the current touch". Moving it to shouldBeginWithRecordedHandlers might give more flexibility, but I'm not sure we need that.
Description
On Android, while one finger rests on an empty part of the screen, a tap with a second finger on a
RectButton,TouchableorPressabledoes nothing: noonBegin,onPressInoronPress. The same tap with no other finger down presses the button. The press right after the swallowed one is lost as well.Since #4127 the orchestrator asks a button, when it is recorded, whether it may begin given the handlers already recorded, and the button refuses any handler that is not simultaneous with it, not on its own view and not a hover. The list passed is the orchestrator's whole
gestureHandlers, which also holds the handlers recorded by other pointers. A resting finger keeps the root view's own handler recorded, so the second finger's button is cancelled before it begins. With one finger the root handler is recorded after the button, which is why the check only broke with two.recordHandlerIfNotPresentnow takes the pointer being extracted and passes only the handlers that already track it. Extraction is bottom-up and every handler starts tracking the pointer right after it is recorded, so those are exactly the handlers under the button on this touch, which is what #4127 meant by "already extracted". Handlers from other pointers no longer take part and keep being arbitrated at activation time. Call sites without a pointer (the TalkBack and keyboard synthetic click, manual state set from JS) pass an empty list, since nothing is under a touch that does not exist.Fixes #4627.
Test plan
RectButton,TouchableandPressable; single-finger presses afterwards still work. Verified on a Pixel 9 Pro emulator (API 36) and a Galaxy S24.argent flow run nested-touchables-test(the [Android] Cancel button gesture when other handlers are extracted before it #4127 behaviour) passes.Test code:
