If your CT clamp is positioned so that it sees the car load as house load then it's not going to be possible to charge the car from grid at the sametime as meeting house load from the battery. You would need to get the CT clamp/car EV connection moved around so that the CT clamp can't "see" the car charging. Handling free electricity sessions in predbat is easy, you program an import rate override for the time and date that it occurs. You can do this either by editing apps.yaml or using the predbat manual API. There's an example of using this in the documentation, https://springfall2008.github.io/batpred/manual-api/#example-solution-to-over-ride-predicted-house-load its not precisely what you want, but similar. You'd need to set rates_import_override and set the rate to zero. This is how I handle free electricity sessions myself. |

Its not 100% perfect but since I know the EV charger power its easy to subtract that from the total power need, and use that sensor value to regulate the battery discharge (for house load) in HA. The thing is that the electricity provider will only pay me for the EV charging energy that is consumed (they know it since my charger is connected to their system) and by that I don't want to consume more than needed from the grid. I have a working solution for it outside predbat, but I thought it would be nice to have it all in predbat instead - I like your solution. allow car to charge from battery = false With above configuration my battery is charged (forced?) when the EV charger is charging, can that be prevented? |

Hello,
Im trying to figure out the best way to discharge the house load from the battery but not the car load. I have currently my total load incl. car behind the ct clamp, but other sensors can be configured. Currently I am not allowing the car to discharge my battery.
The reason is that there are scenarios where my electricity provider give me free charging when there are excess power available from the net. If so, I would like to charge my car at max but at the same time I would like to cover the remaining house load from the battery.
Any ideas?
