Sunsynk, HA / Predbat integration issues and help with parallel inverter setup #4526
|
Hello community, Hope everyone is doing well. Firstly, I am new to home assistant and can only ask for a patience with me as i have hit a brick wall after spending days/hours trying to get it working properly. All advise say with Sunsynk/deye systems, HA is the best way to go. My battery and inverter have been commissioned last week and i was hoping to get HA setup with predbat for Octopus agile tariff as soon as my SEG / export MPAN is released hence the need for an error free setup. My system:
Current status: I was able to get predbat going over exposed MQTT in HA via the Sunsynk / Deye Inverter add-on but i noticed the data was halved in MQTT discovered sensors and i tried to specify dual inverter in the add-on config then all sorts of issues started popping up and i felt i may need to restart my configuration but the actual issue i have is lack of experience/knowledge of predbat and there seem not to be a guide for a parallel inverter setup with predbat as far as i have searched. Any help or steer would be greatly appreciated as my sensors seem not right and i have a strong suspicion i have omitted key configurations to get the setup working properly. The first thing you need to get working is your inverter with Home Assistant. Be able to read the inverter data and control it by manipulating HA controls. Predbat needs this as a prerequisite and it doesn't sound like you have achieved that yet. Once you are confident with the inverter working with home assistant you can look at predbat. There are some invalid entries in your apps.yaml, presumably AI "helped" - chdck the documentation. |

For what it is worth: My main issue was with the custom CAN BMS and RS485 cable sharing the same port, on the waveshare i did use pins 1,2 & 3(ground) but i needed to discard ground on the CAN battery cable (Fogstar) as CAN did not require a ground (green) so only, pins 4 & 5 was used and i cut-off the rest of the other cables to get everything working as required on the same port. Hope it helps someone in future to avoid battery comms lock-out issues causing the inverter to discard the battery and use grid only when you are making your own custom cable. |
Hi Geoff,
Update: I have been able to control the inverter successfully using HA via MQTT switches and the sensors are pulling through data from the inverter with no issues.
Also, all of predbat switches work ok and the config show green. I know i still have the octopus api / account to setup hence why i have the fixed rate placeholder to do some testing before going live.
The plan is to be on dynamic tariff as we do not have an EV yet hence the reach out to get this working ok.
Thanks again for your help.
