GivTCP 3.6 discussion #5506

I've been running the beta versions from beta 1 through to 7, and upgraded to the released version today 3.6.3. In the beta versions I found bugs which Mark fixed. I think this is a great upgrade that is more stable and brings native support of 3 phase and HV inverters into GivTCP and thus Predbat (previously only reliable option was GivEnergy cloud). Potentially there are some issues still to shake out but these should be small. On the key changes, the modbus library should bring increased resilience but it did come with some issues found in beta that the library didn't support some inverter controls in the way that GivTCP 3.5 used to (GivTCP was running on a fork of this same modbus library), so what has happened is that where there are gaps in the modbus the GivTCP enhancements are retained and these go onto the modbus backlog. The energy total MWh/kWh jump I think only affects one set of inverters. Its possible to correct your long term stats with SQL if it happens to you. Don't think any controls are removed, there are some new ones added. The removed entities are for things that some firmware doesn't support (e.g. battery pause on older gen 1 firmware), so removal of these are no-op's |
Uh oh!

It looks like GivTCP 3.6 is out with a number of fixes but it also looks like some core changes.
I've not installed it myself but would love to hear if there are any concerns for us Predbat users and if anyone has any experience yet.
Nothing to report, just starting a dialogue.
