The parsed read multiple registers (FC 4) response MBAP dataLength is one less than the actual length? for example:
00 01 00 00 00 06 31 04 04 00 00 00 00
06 should be 07?

Can you be more specific? I'm assuming you mean that the byte array returned by (ReadInputRegistersResponse) getMessage() is not correct?
I don't really understand the context and can't make out if you are inferring that the Modbus Slave is issuing an incorrect response or that a re-constructed response from an external Slave is not being presented correctly
