This document defines the philosophical foundation of forque (the creator matching service) and FORQUE (the creative process standard). Unlike specifications.md or future-challenges.md, this document addresses values, culture, ethics, and long-term vision.
forque is not merely a service. It is a cultural infrastructure for handling creative divergence, inheritance, legitimacy, and process. This philosophy is written so that future creators, developers, and AIs can inherit — or fork — it.

We are entering an era where how a work was made carries as much value as the work itself. Yet today:
- Creative process is not visible
- Legitimacy and "main branch" status are handled ambiguously
- Derivative cultures frequently collide
- Rights and inheritance are unprepared for AI-human co-creation
- Works become frozen when their authors go absent
forque / FORQUE exists to resolve these problems.
現代の創作は、作品そのものだけでなく、**どのように生まれたか（プロセス）**が 価値を持つ時代に入っている。しかし現状では、創作プロセスは可視化されず、 正統性の扱いは曖昧で、派生文化は衝突しやすく、AI共創に対する権利整備も 追いついていない。forque / FORQUEはこれらを解決するために存在する。

"Completely original" creation is a myth — and demanding it places excessive psychological burden on creators. forque treats derivation not as shame, but as legitimate lineage.

In forque's philosophy, "main branch" is inherently a temporary concept.

forque supports main-branch policy for the current era, while enabling migration toward a mainless culture.
forqueの思想では、「本流（main）」は本質的に暫定的な概念である。 現代の文化では「公式」「正統性」が求められるが、 未来の創作文化では「本流なし」が自然になる可能性がある。 forqueはこの過渡期に対応しつつ、本流なし文化への移行も可能にする。

When an author goes absent, works freeze and cultural stagnation follows. Life/death verification is technically impossible, and international copyright law is not unified.
forque / FORQUE adopts time-based copyleft release as its solution:
- Copyright is retained; only main-branch policy authority is released
- The release period is completely up to the author:
- 1 year, 100 years, 0 years (immediate), or indefinite — all valid
- FORQUE recommends 5 years as a cultural reference point, but this carries no enforcement
This balances respect for the author's intent with cultural fluidity for future creators.

Creation is essentially a continuous cycle of inheritance and fork. forque affirms this culture and treats derivation as natural.

- Derivative policy allows softening only — derivatives cannot impose stricter conditions than the original
- Lineage must always be recorded
- AI-generated parts are handled via self-declaration + metadata
The author's original intent does not override future legal revisions or cultural reinterpretations. This principle is explicitly stated in forque's terms of service.

World-building vocabulary grows culture. Technical vocabulary universalizes the standard.

forque and forklore-galaxy share a foundational philosophy: there is no single canon.
- forklore-galaxy: a forkable branching mythology platform where all forks are equal and no canon exists
- forque: a creator matching service where lineage is recorded and derivation is treated as legitimate inheritance
Both reject the authority of a single "correct" version. Both affirm that branching is not deviation — it is the natural state.
The conceptual bridge is lineage as infrastructure: forque records creative lineage; forklore-galaxy enacts it as mythology. Formal specification of this connection is planned for a future session.

forque / FORQUE is designed with future creative culture in mind.
Multiple mains coexist. Legitimacy is distributed. Each community holds its own "main."
AIs create their own main branches. AIs are treated as authors. AI lineage becomes critical.
The concept of legitimacy fades. Forking becomes the natural state. Culture is no longer centralized.
forque is designed to adapt to this future through flexible main-branch and inheritance policies.

forque / FORQUE is the first serious attempt at a standard for handling the creative process.
The philosophy defined here is the foundation supporting technical specifications and future implementations. It is written so that future creators, developers, and AIs can inherit this thinking — and fork it.
PHILOSOPHY.md is the soul of forque, and the root of FORQUE.
