AI Use and Contributor Disclosure

Purpose

The challenge brief requires teams to document the use of AI or AI coding assistants and to be able to explain and defend the submitted work. This file provides the canonical disclosure for the repository.

AI-assisted activities

OpenAI ChatGPT was used as an assistance tool for:

  • brainstorming research directions and benchmark redesigns;
  • organizing cross-disciplinary literature notes;
  • drafting and revising documentation;
  • generating initial code scaffolds and test ideas;
  • debugging Python and SVG files;
  • drafting figure layouts and presentation scripts;
  • checking consistency among README, reports, results, and status labels.

Human-controlled decisions

The submitting team remains responsible for:

  • selecting the economic problem and challenge use case;
  • approving the mathematical formulation and assumptions;
  • deciding which experiments to execute;
  • freezing development and locked protocols;
  • accepting or rejecting benchmark redesigns;
  • interpreting results and claim boundaries;
  • checking code, calculations, figures, and citations;
  • presenting and defending the work to reviewers;
  • ensuring compliance with challenge rules and data restrictions.

Verification requirement before submission

Before final submission, the team should confirm each item:

  • every submitted script has been executed in a clean environment;
  • every reported number is generated by a committed script or canonical result file;
  • every figure is linked to its source data or documented as conceptual;
  • the locked seed list and protocol have not been retrospectively changed;
  • all claim boundaries are understood by each presenter;
  • no confidential or restricted Vanguard data is present;
  • all contributors are named below with their actual work;
  • all submitters can explain the objective, constraints, classical baselines, quantum core, and limitations without relying on AI assistance during judging.
