Night shift report

WHY THIS MATTERS: The version didn't move (still v2.1.310), but the docs caught up with what that release ships. Two limits are gone. The Monitor tool and plugin monitors used to be completely off on Amazon Bedrock, Claude Platform on AWS, Google Cloud's Agent Platform, Microsoft Foundry, and whenever telemetry was disabled. Now they just need v2.1.310. Idle compaction, previously terminal-only, now also runs in the VS Code chat panel and the Desktop Code tab, so users there will see a summary replace their conversation and need to know what it is and how to turn it off. Several security-relevant behaviours are also written down for the first time: channel approval IDs, askpass being disabled for marketplace clones, and Claude Tag's default network level being renamed. No deletions, no tombstone or discovery changes (date bumps only).

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Monitor tool / plugin monitors on 3P providers (tools-reference.md, plugins/components.md, plugins-reference.md): no longer unavailable on Bedrock, Claude Platform on AWS, Agent Platform, Foundry, or with DISABLE_TELEMETRY / CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC. They now need v2.1.310+. A new managed setting blocks monitors from plugins that aren't force-enabled (v2.1.310+, settings-reference.md).
  • Idle compaction in VS Code and Desktop (settings-reference.md, prompt-caching.md, monitoring-usage.md): turned on for "accounts that Anthropic selects". The summary is written while you're away and only used if your next message comes an hour or more later. Documents the new notice text and how to opt out with "idleCompaction": false.
  • Routines / scheduled tasks (routines.md, web-scheduled-tasks.md): GitHub triggers can now fire on Issue events. Run history has proper Succeeded / Failed / Cancelled outcomes (archiving a succeeded run's session turns it into Cancelled). A new troubleshooting table covers the eight "The last run…" warnings.
  • Security: channel permission verdicts (channels-reference.md): if a 5-letter request ID repeats within a session, Claude Code drops every channel verdict carrying it, so a remote reply can't approve the wrong prompt.
  • Security: git askpass disabled for plugin/marketplace clones, GIT_ASKPASS included (plugins/install.md, host-marketplace.md, discover-plugins.md, plugins/troubleshooting.md). Updated test command: git -c core.askPass= ls-remote <url>.
  • Claude Tag: the environment's default network level is now called Limited access (previously "Trusted access") across the admin, identity, and security-and-data pages.
  • LLM gateways (llm-gateway-protocol.md): from v2.1.310, Claude Code also spots an upstream 400 that rejects the effort-2025-11-24 beta header and stops sending it. Anyone whose ANTHROPIC_BETAS hard-codes that value keeps sending it and keeps getting the error.
  • Hooks (hooks.md, hooks-guide.md): pressing Esc while a prompt-check hook is running drops the prompt and puts your text back in the input. A plugin's WorktreeCreate hook doesn't run with --worktree --tmux (and before v2.1.300 it didn't run with --worktree alone). Multiple updatedInput rewrites aren't merged, and which one wins isn't guaranteed.
  • Self-hosted runners (self-hosted-environments-reference.md, -deploy.md): runners v2.1.299–v2.1.308 released sessions mid-turn (e.g. during /code-review) once the startup timeout passed; fixed in v2.1.309. A command cut off by a lost runner can run again on resume.
  • Web UI refresh (claude-code-on-the-web.md, web-quickstart.md, remote-control.md): new Changes card in the session rail, an Archived tab at claude.ai/code/sessions with Unarchive, Auto-fix moved into the PR's ⋮ menu, plus new troubleshooting for "Remote Control disconnected / Can't reach", "Your new session couldn't start", and "Can't rewind to this message" (self-hosted runners older than v2.1.246).
  • Smaller notes: Code Review re-review summaries now give separate counts for skipped findings; interactive-mode's diff panel stops refreshing during a merge or rebase; terminal tab titles drop the status glyph in terminals that support the protocol.
  • Noise: support/ changes are just Intercom signed-image URL rotation. About 80 github/claude-cookbooks notebooks had their model IDs updated to claude-opus-5-5 / claude-sonnet-5-5 / claude-fable-5-1. The cookbook CLAUDE.md now lists the suffix-less Bedrock Messages-API IDs (anthropic.claude-haiku-4-5) and keeps the dated -v1:0 form for InvokeModel only.
