Plugin Changes Text Color on Buttons Outside of TLDraw

I recently updated my version of the plugin (apologies, I don't have the previous version number) and I noticed that the buttons in the obsidian settings had the text color changed. Enabled and disabling the plugin demonstrates this behavior. I do not use a custom theme, this is on Obsidian Default. Please see the "Check for Updates" button:

This is likely due to your installer @nosciencehere download obsidian again. Dont bother uninstalling and reinstalling obsidian, just download it again, the new version should replace the old version

Your installer version should say 1.12.7

My installer is definitely out of date. It will be a while before I get back to my computer (going on PTO) but I will try this when I'm back.

The culprit is this global rule in src/styles.css (line 27):

button:not(.clickable-icon) {
  color: currentColor;
}

The comment right above it (lines 13–20) already nails the underlying tension: button:not(.clickable-icon) is Obsidian's selector and you can't add .clickable-icon to tldraw's own buttons. But unlike the other overrides described there (which get scoped / specificity-boosted — e.g. .tldraw-view-root .tlui-button on line 83), this color: currentColor rule is unscoped, so it applies to every <button> in Obsidian — not just tldraw's. It overrides Obsidian's default button:not(.clickable-icon){color:var(--text-color)} app-wide, and because currentColor resolves to the inherited text color, any context where that differs from the button's background loses contrast:

• the Settings "Check for Updates" button (the screenshots above);
• action buttons inside an Obsidian Notice render white-on-white — the Notice supplies a light text color while the button keeps its light --interactive-normal background.

(Unrelated to the Obsidian installer version mentioned earlier — it reproduces on current Obsidian, and toggling the plugin on/off flips it, exactly as the OP showed.)

Fix: scope the rule to the tldraw view so it stops leaking, consistent with the convention already used a few lines below it, e.g.

  color: currentColor;
}

.tldraw-view-root button:not(.clickable-icon) is specificity (0,2,1), so it still wins over Obsidian's (0,1,1) inside the view. If any tldraw UI renders through a portal outside .tldraw-view-root, scoping to .tl-container instead would cover those too.
