Coaxial Helicopter Design for Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) Operations
Designed, simulated, 3D-printed, and experimentally tested a manually variable-pitch propeller system — from blade theory and CAD through CFD validation to a self-built RPM and thrust measurement rig.
End-to-end pipeline for data-driven characterization of 3D-printed propellers: 5000 LHS-sampled designs → parametric CAD/STL → XFoil + QProp aerodynamics → free-flight simulation → physical validation on a launch rig. Ships two ML-ready datasets and an interactive config browser. Bachelor thesis, IDEAL Lab @ ETH Zürich.
