Crashing on Breath of Fire and Dino Crisis

Tried dinput.dll + XInput but the game crashes. Also is it possible to make it work for Resident Evil Classics? Also I'm using the GOG versions.

Thanks for the report.

I developed the dinput variant (dinput.dll) against Dino Crisis 1,2 and classic Resident Evil 1,2,3 from GOG by swapping out their proprietary dinput wrapper (dinput.dll).

It's strange that Dino Crisis crashes! Dino crisis 1 and 2 work fine here™.
Could you use the debug version of dinput.dll and share InputFusion.log created in the game directory?
And what kind of controller are you using?

Classic Resident Evil are not yet working due to dinput/8 not fully implemented:

• Resident Evil 1: I haven't figure it out yet what kind of format it wants (is it using a custom format instead of dijoystate/2 (?) or
  maybe I'm lacking others methods and it defaults to custom format idk).

• Resident Evil 2: I forgot the problem 😅 but I think it's the same as RE1

• Resident Evil 3: The game is polling input but yet nothing happens and the debug menu of the game shows no gamepad.

NB: KBM is not implemented yet so my project breaks support for KBM in these games.

Breath of Fire (1993 ?) I will have to take a look at it.

Weird that it didn't crash anymore for Dino Crisis but do I need to remap the buttons into something like edit them in the .ini or .txt file or is it automatic? The RS is the Start button and X is the Cancel, not sure what the buttons are changed.

Also just found that you can in fact, manually add controls in the "goginput.ini" file with GOG's default dinput.dll wrapper. It basically needs the PID and VID of the controller (mine is VID_310A&PID_2DC8) so the "guid" will be 310A2DC8-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 and will be presented in this format if using XInput devices:

There is so configuration file at the moment, similar to SDL3, some configuration can be made via env. var.
With the dinput DLL the default layout is as an xbox controller and has the same limitations (such as no individual trigger axis).

I might change it later tho because I think what I did with WinMM matches better older game.

The game has its own remap option in the main screen menu.
For more advanced remapping it's done via SDL's SDL_GAMECONTROLLERCONFIG env var.
