v2: Error with unlinked citations?

Not sure what's going on here, but it looks like it may be showing an error due to unlinked citations?

And then there also seems to be a problem of citations becoming unlinked on paste, which sounds like it was happening with v1.

User sent us the document and I've identified the bug upstream and posted a bug report https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/237550038

Let's roll this out with a fallback to Apps Script. Maybe whatever was causing the issue has resolved itself.

For the record, the issue here is that some undetermined operation/doc update that we are performing using the Google Docs API is causing some sort of issue in the internal (google-side) representation of the document, and later when attempting to retrieve the document via Google Docs API, we only get HTTP 500 response, until the offending part of the document is removed, which sometimes is the full contents of the document.

Google said they'd look into it, but instead have hidden the issue that we've created, claiming it's sharing sensitive data, a link to a document in my own account that reproduces the issue, and then stopped responding to my requests for update.

Substantial updates have happened to the Google Docs editor and API since, so there's some chance that the original bug may have been fixed by now.

The google dev said it's a named range issue, so at least they looked into what the bug is now, but still no timeline on whether this is getting addressed.
